2010: little big harvest

Is it still a little too early to indulge in an unbridled optimism, but the impression is that 2010 turned out to be a little big harvest.

While the quantities of all the grapes were a fraction of those of last year (thanks mostly to the particular season, but also to a relentless population of roe deers and other cute animals), the quality of the grape was outstanding.

We vinified a (relatively) small amount in pink for our Mustiola (2010), trying to repeat the incredible result of last year. The progress we are making with this wine can only fill us with pride. I am confident that int the early next year we will have some (welcome) surprises.

The red gives us similar high hopes. Although the total amount of product was very poor, the maturation of the Sangiovese seems to an optimal level.

I am looking forward to see what we have in our hands in few months.

E BRUXELLES METTE IL TAPPO AL VINO – Commento all’articolo de La voce del 30 luglio 2010

1) Gli squali che speculano in campo agricolo vendendo e comprando quote, titoli e altri pezzi di carta, con la complicità di Stati e UE;

Incentivi all’estirpazione?

The vineyard at lower altitudes is already far ahead and at risk of fungal attack, as the rains were heavy and continue.

We are ready to proceed to the first treatment, but it seems that the weather will not allow us. Is raining without stop and the forecast for the next days are very bad: rain throughout the week.

Obviously, this situation exposes the vineyards to the peronospora…

Fiat has dropped the mask, finally.
Years of pitiful cars, produced with taxpayers’ money and following a simple and scandalous scheme: supports me, I make cars at no cost, I put in my pocket the difference and, in return, I do not fire half piemonte and much of southern Italy. This is history.

The new Fiat act more directly: arrogantly claims to be a true multinational company (and not a dwarf who had a stroke of luck) and not having anything to give back to Italy, nor in a rhetorical sense, nor for a misplaced gratitude for the huge mountain of money that have swallowed for decades.
Well, everything known and not worth talking about it anymore. But the real shame in the new commercial for the Fiat Doblò, was not about how can fall down a man (C. Lambert), not just another example of the extreme decay of Italian advertising world, no. What made me immediately angry was that the commercial, a co-promotion between a wine and a van, was not promoting in any way the thing that : the trademark ITALY.

So, these scoundrels decided to promote a South American wine (Piedra negra), apparently not even really produced by any former immortal graying, also!

Fiat did not have the simple, minmal good tasto to make a similar marketing operation WITH a Piemonte’s wine, the car maker homeland! Pretended to pretend that we wanted to slash (IDIOTS!) a case of a famous Barolo?

Honor to the friends of Piedra negra (J. & F. Lurton, actually, According to the online version of Wine Spectator ) and to all other friends making wine in Argentina.

Can you immagine a French carmaker doing such a thing (even if the cars are made in Poland, in the same way)? No, eh! So that shows how we have fallen down, if there was never any need to do it anymore.

So, absolutely no congratulations to Fiat: this was a bad fall of style, and the demonstration of a profound ingratitude, even on a purely formal and rhetorical way.
I’ve always been a supporter of purchasing Italian cars, because the only resource we still haveis nothing but the worn and tired brand ITALY (well, for us the equally battered brand TUSCANY): henceforth, I will think well about nuing Fiat anymore.

Also this year we dedicate the utmost attention to customers who want to give our products to their customers. For anyone interested we are ready with our wines and our oil (pressed from this year directly in the company) in packs sober and elegant and, if required, custom labels.

If you do not think for next year.

Meanwhile Greetings from the family and staff

Vignerons d’Europe

Although we are unable to attend, we like to record the event organized by Slow Food, with the motto “conviviality, sustainability and networking” (second edition), to reflect about wine in Europe. Vintners everywhere are meeting in Montecatini in these days (edition 2007 in Montpelier), to speak and imagine about the future: it mourns the heart to be absent.
